Are audio/visual players ESA eligible in Arizona?
Yes. Audio/visual players are general education supplemental material under the SY2025-26 ESA Parent Handbook — allowable for all ESA students with no curriculum documentation currently required. A complete itemized receipt is still required.
Can ESA pay for a CD, DVD, or audio player
A standalone audio or video player — CD, DVD, MP3, audiobook player — is Tier 1 supplemental material with no curriculum document. It's treated as a tool for playing educational media, which is why it sits with books and educational DVDs rather than with electronics.
The mistake families make
The line between a player and a home-entertainment system. A simple player is fine; a soundbar, home-theater setup, smart speaker, or TV is prohibited home-audio or entertainment equipment, no matter how the listing is framed. Buying "a player" that's really an entertainment system is the rejection here.
The allowable path nearby
Instead of a home-theater or smart-speaker setup, buy a basic single-purpose player. Keep the itemized receipt and pair it with the educational media it plays — audiobooks, educational DVDs — so the purpose is plain on the record.
The receipt still has to be complete
A yes on allowability doesn't survive an incomplete receipt. Every receipt needs the vendor's name, address, and contact; the date; a receipt or order number; an itemized description; and the itemized and total amounts. Missing any field can get the expense rejected — and undocumented debit-card purchases past the quarterly deadline must be repaid.
