Is home theater and audio equipment ESA eligible in Arizona?
No. Home theater and audio equipment is on the unallowable purchases list in the SY2025-26 ESA Parent Handbook. Buying it with ESA funds risks the expense being disallowed and repayment being required.

Why ADE says no to home theater equipment
Soundbars, speaker systems, stereos, subwoofers, movie projectors — equipment that turns a living room into a theater serves the household's evenings, not the student's lessons. The statute's entertainment exclusion covers the whole audio rack.
The mistake families make
The listening-curriculum framing: music appreciation, audiobooks, language audio — all real Tier 1 content, which makes the speaker system feel like its delivery vehicle. The handbook splits content from theater hardware cleanly, and it shows you the split itself: educational headphones are explicitly allowable while the surround-sound system is explicitly not.
The allowable path nearby
For one student's ears: headphones and earbuds, explicitly allowable as supplemental material. For playing the content: basic audio/visual players (CD, DVD, MP3) are Tier 1. The content library itself (audiobooks, educational CDs and DVDs) is all Tier 1.
