Are pizza ovens ESA eligible in Arizona?
No. Pizza ovens are on the unallowable purchases list in the SY2025-26 ESA Parent Handbook. Buying them with ESA funds risks the expense being disallowed and repayment being required.
Why ADE says no to pizza ovens
Specialty outdoor cooking equipment — the handbook names pizza ovens specifically (yes, the Ooni). Like grills and smokers, a pizza oven is weekend recreation that happens to involve food, and the household-benefit rule catches it cleanly.
The mistake families make
Riding the home-ec lane too far. Baking is teachable; countertop baking equipment is genuinely allowable with a curriculum doc; so a pizza oven "for the bread-and-dough unit" feels one small step further. The handbook closes that step by naming the item. When a thing appears on the prohibited list by name, no curriculum document outranks it.
