Are large appliances ESA eligible in Arizona?
No. Large appliances are on the unallowable purchases list in the SY2025-26 ESA Parent Handbook. Buying them with ESA funds risks the expense being disallowed and repayment being required.

Why ADE says no to large appliances
Stoves, refrigerators, freezers, microwaves, ice machines — these run the household's kitchen for years, serving every meal for every member. The handbook prohibits large appliances by name, and no curriculum reaches them.
The mistake families make
The science-storage argument: "the experiments need refrigeration," "the sourdough unit needs the oven." The kitchen's fixed appliances serve the family around the clock; a course of study can't convert a refrigerator into a school supply. The size and permanence of the appliance is the test, not what occasionally goes inside it.
The allowable path nearby
The handbook's line is drawn at the countertop: home-ec countertop appliances — stand mixers, sewing machines, ordinary cooking and baking equipment — are Tier 2 allowable with a curriculum document. If it sits on the counter and serves the course, there's a path; if it's plumbed in or stands on the floor, there isn't.
