Printers are named in the statutory computer-hardware category — including 3D printers — with ink and toner as ordinary supplies. No curriculum document required.
The mistake families make
Grade and scale, the same line that runs through the whole program. A home printer is the category; a commercial production unit is prohibited professional-grade equipment. A hobbyist 3D printer for STEM projects reads fine; an industrial filament farm doesn't.
The allowable path nearby
Buy the home-scale printer, keep ink and toner on itemized receipts as ongoing supplies, and let print-and-binding services handle the big jobs a home machine can't. For 3D printing, the student-grade machine plus project materials makes a clean STEM record.
The receipt still has to be complete
A yes on allowability doesn't survive an incomplete receipt. Every receipt needs the vendor's name, address, and contact; the date; a receipt or order number; an itemized description; and the itemized and total amounts. Missing any field can get the expense rejected — and undocumented debit-card purchases past the quarterly deadline must be repaid.
