Are sensory items and assistive technology ESA eligible in Arizona?
Only for students with a disability. Sensory items and assistive technology are allowable only for ESA students with an IEP, MET Report, 504 Plan, or ESA-purpose IEE on file, with category-specific supporting documentation.

Whether ESA covers sensory items or assistive technology
Associated goods and assistive technology — sensory items, weighted blankets, braille translation, AT rentals — are a disability-track purchase, and ADE applies a "similarly situated" test: an item approved for one disability profile isn't automatically approved for another. A weighted blanket cleared for an autistic student, for example, isn't allowable for a speech-language-impairment or universal student.
The mistake families make
Buying a popular sensory or calming product on the assumption that the diagnosis-to-item match is obvious. It isn't — you need supporting documentation: an enrolled course of study showing the need, a current IEP, MET, 504, or IEE indicating it, or a signed letter from a qualified examiner or certified special-education teacher with a license or Educator ID. Highlight the relevant section when you submit.
The allowable path nearby
Match the item to a documented need for that specific student and submit the highlighted supporting document. The receipt still has to be complete
A yes on allowability doesn't survive an incomplete receipt. Every receipt needs the vendor's name, address, and contact; the date; a receipt or order number; an itemized description; and the itemized and total amounts. Missing any field can get the expense rejected — and undocumented debit-card purchases past the quarterly deadline must be repaid.
