Home / Can I buy…? / private school tuition and fees
Are private school tuition and fees ESA eligible in Arizona?
Yes. Private school tuition and fees are allowable under a statutory ESA purchase category, with their own documentation and channel rules.
Documentation required
- Complete invoice per handbook invoice requirements
How to pay for it
Use Pay Vendor — MCC 8211 blocks debit cards at K-12 schools.
Worth knowing
Approved fee types: application, computer lab, enrollment, facility, lab, instrument rental, payment processing, registration, required books, supply, transportation, tutoring, uniform. Non-educational fees (parking, yearbook, picture day, cap & gown, spirit day, PTA) are prohibited.
The receipt still has to be complete
A yes on allowability doesn't survive an incomplete receipt. Every receipt needs the vendor's name, address, and contact; the date; a receipt or order number; an itemized description; and the itemized and total amounts. Missing any field can get the expense rejected — and undocumented debit-card purchases past the quarterly deadline must be repaid.
